The Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ndigbara, has commended the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Rivers State Council (BBN-RSC), for its continued commitment to raising disciplined, moral, and God-fearing young people. He made the commendation in his goodwill message at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Biennial State Events Camp of the Boys’ Brigade.

Speaking to officers, patrons, and participants at the camp, Ndigbara emphasized the significance of youth organizations in building a resilient society. He noted that at a time when societal vices and distractions are increasingly challenging the youth, structured organizations like the Boys’ Brigade provide a vital anchor for positive character development.

Nurturing Discipline and Leadership

Ndigbara highlighted that the ministry’s goals overlap with those of the Boys’ Brigade in fostering cultural pride, patriotism, and social responsibility among young citizens. According to him, a disciplined youth population is essential to preserving the state’s cultural heritage and driving long-term development. “The future of Rivers State relies heavily on the quality of leaders we groom today. A disciplined, God-fearing youth is the greatest asset any society can boast of,” Ndigbara stated.

The 2026 Biennial State Events Camp serves as a gathering point for thousands of boys across various local government areas in Rivers State. The event features leadership drills, cultural exhibitions, character-building workshops, and spiritual devotions, all aimed at equipping the participants for future leadership roles.

A Commitment to Collaboration

The Permanent Secretary assured the BBN-RSC leadership of the ministry’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives that empower the youth and promote the rich cultural values of the state. He urged other civil society organizations to emulate the structured approach of the Boys’ Brigade in steering young minds toward constructive endeavors.

In response, leadership representatives of the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Rivers State Council, expressed deep gratitude to the Permanent Secretary for his support and encouragement. They reaffirmed their dedication to the Brigade’s foundational pillars of obedience, reverence, discipline, and self-respect, pledging to remain steadfast partners in progress with the Rivers State Government.
