“EFCC Prosecutes Woman Over Alleged ₦42.345m PMS Supply Deal” — Court Sets Review Of Facts, Trial

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned Chinwendu Fidelia Ohanebo before the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over an alleged ₦42.345 million fraud involving the purported supply of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS.
Ohanebo was arraigned on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, before Justice M.A. Lawal on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretences and stealing by conversion.
According to the EFCC, the defendant allegedly obtained ₦42,345,000 from one Musa Muhammed Jidda sometime in 2025 under the pretence that the money was for the supply of PMS at the rate of ₦941 per litre.
The anti-graft agency alleged that the representation was false and was made with intent to defraud.
The offence is said to be contrary to Sections 1(1)(a) and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
In the second count, the EFCC alleged that Ohanebo dishonestly converted the ₦42,345,000 belonging to Jidda to her personal use.
The Commission said the alleged offence contravenes Section 280(1)(b) and is punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
When the charges were read to her, Ohanebo pleaded guilty to the first count of obtaining under false pretences and not guilty to the second count of stealing by conversion.
Following her pleas, prosecution counsel, H.U. Kofarnaisa, asked the court for an adjournment to enable the prosecution commence trial on the second count.
Justice Lawal consequently adjourned the matter for a review of facts in respect of the first count and commencement of trial on the second count.
The court also ordered that Ohanebo be remanded in a correctional facility pending the continuation of proceedings.
