Samsung Nigeria has unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE, as the company seeks to widen access to its S-series smartphone range and strengthen its position in the competitive premium smartphone market.
The device was unveiled at a media briefing in Lagos, where Samsung officials highlighted its artificial intelligence, camera, video, performance and security features.
Speaking at the event, Head of Product Marketing, MX Division, Samsung Nigeria, Omolade Agbadola, said the Fan Edition range was designed to give consumers another entry point into the company’s flagship S-series.
She explained that Samsung’s main S-series comprises the regular, Plus and Ultra models, while the FE variant provides consumers with an opportunity to experience selected features of the flagship range without necessarily purchasing the Ultra model.
According to Agbadola, the company was also seeking to create greater awareness of its expanding range of devices and demonstrate its competitiveness in the premium smartphone market.
Samsung Nigeria’s Training Manager, Ayo Akinrinnola, who demonstrated the device’s features, said the Galaxy S26 FE came with improvements in photography, video recording, artificial intelligence and long-term software support.
One of the major improvements highlighted was the wider selfie feature, which gives the front camera an 85-degree field of view and allows more people to fit into a single frame.
Akinrinnola said the camera could automatically adjust when additional people entered the frame, making it easier to take group selfies.
He also demonstrated Photo Assist, an AI-powered feature that allows users to modify images by adding or removing objects and creating stickers.
Another feature showcased was Fan Cam, which enables users to isolate an individual in a video and reframe the footage into different aspect ratios for social media platforms.
The device also features Super Steady Video with Horizontal Lock, which Samsung said helps users record steadier footage while in motion.
The Galaxy S26 FE has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Full HD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
It is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2500 processor and has a triple rear camera system comprising wide, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, with up to three times optical zoom.
The smartphone has a 4,000mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Samsung said the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant would be available in the Nigerian market.
The company also highlighted a range of AI features, including live call translation, Interpreter, Call Screening, Browsing Assist, Transcript Assist and Audio Eraser.
Akinrinnola explained that Call Screening could help users handle unknown calls by interacting with callers and providing information about the purpose of the call.
Transcript Assist can convert conversations into text, identify different speakers and summarise discussions, while Audio Eraser can identify unwanted sounds in videos and help reduce background noise.
Samsung also announced seven years of security updates for the device, alongside multiple Android operating system upgrades.
The company highlighted its Knox security platform and advised users to register their devices with a Samsung account and activate SmartThings Find to help locate lost devices.
Samsung Care+ was also highlighted as an added protection option for eligible customers, including coverage for screen damage.
The company further demonstrated an updated Quick Share feature that enables file transfers between compatible Samsung and Apple devices.
Samsung said eligible buyers would also receive a six-month Google AI Pro subscription, while its Smart Switch service would enable users to transfer data from their old devices, including supported eSIM information.
The Galaxy S26 FE is available in blueberry, graphite and pistachio colours.
