Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of sponsoring some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and other political stakeholders against him over political developments in the state.
Wike made the allegation on Wednesday during his monthly live media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The FCT minister alleged that AbdulRazaq had been telling political associates that he was responsible for funding politicians who failed to secure APC tickets in Kwara State, allegedly because of his relationship with former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Wike also criticised the governor for allegedly sidelining serving federal lawmakers from the state’s political structure.
“You remove senators, you remove House of Reps. You must be a super Governor,” Wike said.
“The senators you removed, you have no place for them. They are all supporting Mr President. We gave them ticket. Instead of you to appreciate us that we did not allow them to go to ADC, you are now saying I am the one sponsoring candidates in your state.”
The minister further alleged that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was involved in similar political activities in Rivers State.
Wike also dismissed reports that he had assured some governors that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not field candidates in their states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I never promised any governor that PDP will not have candidates in any state. So Kwara will not be exception. I have equally said it to the face of the Kwara governor,” he said.
The former Rivers State governor also said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would return to the Presidential Villa after the 2027 election, while urging governors to adopt political strategies that would enable them to retain control of their respective states.
