A senatorial aspirant for Zamfara North All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket, Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has pledged his support for Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari following his appointment as Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
Shinkafi made the declaration while addressing his supporters at a gathering where members of his political structure, the Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front, expressed solidarity with Yari.
He said he and his supporters would rally behind Yari to ensure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He urged APC members to close ranks and support Yari, saying political differences should not stand in the way of the party’s success in the 2027 election.
However, Shinkafi said his support for Yari would not make him abandon his legal challenge over the APC primary election in Zamfara North.
He said he had approached the Federal High Court to challenge what he described as the alleged imposition of a candidate and the denial of his democratic rights during the party’s electoral process.
“We are going to continue to fight at the Federal High Court. We have submitted all our evidence before the court, and the evidence is overwhelming,” he said.
Shinkafi vowed to pursue the case through the appellate courts if necessary, insisting that he would not back down in his quest for what he described as justice.
He also directed his coordinators in Zamfara North to begin preparations for the senatorial campaign committee ahead of the commencement of campaign activities.
