The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested Ahmed Saleh, a 22-year-old man who allegedly impersonated a security officer to commit grave crimes, including criminal trespass, attempted rape, and theft, at a higher institution in Bauchi.
The suspect was apprehended following a distress call regarding an intruder operating under the guise of a security operative. According to police reports, Saleh utilized his disguise to gain unauthorized access to the female residential quarters of the college, where he targeted unsuspecting students.

Spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect had been terrorizing the campus community by leveraging his fake identity. Upon his arrest, items suspected to be stolen from students, along with elements of his disguise, were recovered by detectives.
Modus Operandi of the Suspect
Preliminary investigations revealed that Saleh carefully planned his operations by monitoring the shifts of legitimate campus security guards. Clad in security attire, he blended into the campus environment, making it easy to bypass standard security checkpoints. On the night of his arrest, he allegedly broke into a student’s room, attempted to sexually assault the occupant, and stole valuable electronics and cash before the victim raised an alarm.
The swift intervention of campus vigilantes and the subsequent arrival of police officers led to his immediate containment and arrest, preventing what could have been a tragic incident. Students in the hostel expressed shock and relief following the apprehension of the suspect, noting that safety concerns had been rising in recent weeks.
Police Commitment to Campus Safety
The Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter to uncover any potential accomplices and to determine if the suspect is linked to previous unresolved crimes on campus. The command urged management of educational institutions in the state to strengthen their internal security protocols, conduct regular audits of security staff, and thoroughly vet all personnel.
Saleh will be charged to court immediately upon the conclusion of the investigation. The police command reassured the public, especially students and parents, of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and safety within academic environments across Bauchi State, urging students to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals immediately.
