If you know where to look, you can see many of Israel’s attacks coming.
Steam trails of missiles on the horizon. Dust stirred up on distant roads from heavy armored vehicles. Jet fighters or an unmanned drone flying high overhead. Armed men climbing out from a tunnel near the border. A flaming kite drifting over a farmer’s field. Etc.
But there are also attacks beyond what anyone may see.
Last month, Iranian hackers targeted coronavirus drug maker Gilead Sciences, Inc., as the company races to deploy a treatment for the virus. The attacks attempted to damage the vaccine development process.
Iranian hackers launched a cyberattack on several water supply stations and sewage plants in Israel with the intention of poisoning the water supply and disrupting Israel’s core infrastructure.
Factories in Israel also reported a series of cyberattacks on their websites. The attackers demanded a ransom and threatened to halt production lines.
Can you imagine the impact these attacks could have had if they were successful? Poisoning the nation’s water supply, destroying progress on the COVID-19 vaccine, or shutting down Israel’s factories? These are very real attacks.
